I was in the gym when I received the Discord notification. I instantly grabbed an RSVP with no hesitation. I then realized it was on a Sunday, and at the time I was working weekends. I knew for a fact there was no way I was missing that listening party. There has been many instances when I find that people let their jobs consume them, not allowing them to live. I can never see myself in that state of mind. Life has too much to offer to not take risks and live.
I told the job I was working for that I had a "family emergency". I was heading to the 4PM showing. I rushed into the city as quickly as possible. Headed down to B&H to purchase my first prime lens, then immediately took the train to Brooklyn. The day radiated typical Spring energy. Walking through Brooklyn always feels therapeutic. When I arrived at the venue it was a small crowd but a strong one. You can tell everyone connects with Daniel very deeply. I met these 2 friends in line who were from Arizona, and we naturally started talking & shared music taste.
The line finally shifted to inside the venue, a path leading inside the building with staff telling us to shut our phones off. Well scented candles filled the room, along with purple lights, pillows covering the floor, and tea handed out. Daniel and his team made sure this experience was one to not be forgotten. My Arizona friends and I sat near the back by the speakers. As the album began, I felt every ounce of detail poured into the tracks booming behind me. Taking a glance around, every single person was encapsulated by each track.
As the last song 'Unstoppable' brought the album to its conclusion, simmutaneously the whole crowd sighed, wanting more from such a great piece of work. Daniel let the audience ask questions, with each one feeling connected. I was able to ask him about taking the initiative to produce Never Enough mostly himself. With him responding "It's more special to him, and wouldn't want to do anything that doesn't feel like him". As everyone walked out the venue, each person had the biggest smile on their face. Leaving with a new experience.
The Tuesday after that I received a text from my job, saying that I was being promoted. Promoted to termination. I got fired. It was 100% worth it and I do not regret it one bit.
